Some of my fondest memories growing up involve playing in my pajamas, whether it was “wear your PJs to school day” or staying up late during a sleepover with friends. There’s just something about a good set of jammies that screams youthfulness and makes me nostalgic for those simpler times. Now as a mom, I love shopping for pajamas for my daughter and find myself wanting to help her create those cozy memories too.
It’s also important to note that pajamas help promote quality sleep. In a recent sleep study Mattress Firm conducted, it was found that people who sleep in pajamas are more likely to easily fall and stay asleep and more likely to wake up feeling rested in the morning. Children are no different, especially foster children who may have difficulty sleeping as they go into a new home.
Mattress Firm wants to help make nights a little comfier for children in foster care by collecting new pajamas.
Mattress Firm Foster Kids Pajama Drive
To kick-off the first Mattress Firm Foster Kids drive of 2018, we’re doing our part to ensure foster children across the country have pajamas to snuggle in. Beginning on January 1 through February 18, all Mattress Firm locations across the country will accept new pajamas of all sizes. Not only do we want all children to be able to create those cozy childhood memories, but we also want to do our part to make sure they are getting a good night’s sleep.
2018 will be no different from years past. As always, all Mattress Firm locations will collect essential items and monetary donations for local children in foster care. In addition to the pajama drive, Mattress Firm Foster Kids will host five other donation drives in 2018 for essential items like clothing, shoes, school supplies and toys. Donations are collected through the Ticket to Dream Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, and after each drive, all proceeds stay in the community where donated and are distributed to carefully chosen local nonprofit foster care partners.
Not everyone can be a foster parent, but anyone can help a foster child. To get involved with Mattress Firm Foster Kids, donate online or learn more about hosting your own donation drive for foster children in your community, visit www.mattressfirmfosterkids.org.
