Whether it’s a new pair of sneakers for playing tag at school or dress shoes to hit the town with friends, nothing puts a little pep in your step like a new pair of shoes, regardless of age. Shoes represent fashion and function; not only can the right shoe complete an outfit and make us feel our best, shoes provide support, warmth and comfort for the part of our body that gets us where we need to go.
Imagine not having the luxury of new shoes, especially as a child or teenager. Regardless of your outfit or plans for the day, you only have one pair of shoes to work with, the shoes on your feet. This thought alone is a driving force behind the Mattress Firm Foster Kids Shoe Drive. At Mattress Firm, we want to do our part to help children in foster care feel confident from the top of their heads down to their toes.
Mattress Firm Foster Kids Shoe Drive
Going on now through October 31, all Mattress Firm locations across the country are accepting new shoes of all sizes. While we may never truly understand what it’s like to walk in the shoes of a foster child, participating in our Mattress Firm Foster Kids Shoe Drive can make a huge difference to kids in your community. A simple pair of shoes can help a teenage boy make the basketball team or help a little girl skip through her school’s front doors with her head held high, experiences that may not be possible otherwise.
Mattress Firm Foster Kids Year-Round
You can always count on Mattress Firm to collect items for children in foster care. Mattress Firm Foster Kids hosts six donation drives throughout the year for essential items like clothing, pajamas, school supplies and toys. Donations are collected through the Ticket to Dream Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, and after each drive, all proceeds stay in the community where donated and are distributed to carefully chosen local nonprofit foster care partners.
A Simple Challenge
In 2016, we received over 136,000 pairs of shoes during our Shoe Drive and we want to challenge you all to help us beat that number this year. Donating is easy, bring a new pair of shoes to any Mattress Firm location and our Mattress Firm employees will make sure they are gifted to a foster child in your community. Your donation can help a foster child run faster, jump higher and feel that aforementioned pep in their step that we have all grown to love!
